The sweet, weakly alkaline, soft water of the Balaton lake can be regarded due to its calcium-, magnesium and hydraulic carbonate content as a strongly diluted mineral water. The gloomy color of the Balaton is to be due predominantly to the decay of lime connections, although also in the water floating organic materials, as well as storm contribute granular mud turned up by the reason to it.
On the north bank the Balaton / Plattensee lake becomes very fast deeply, at the south bank of the Balaton / Plattensee lake you can walk up to 800m far into the lake. (a bath in the Balaton is ideally more for nonswimmers & children)
